Angels in the Outfield Helping Kids Like Melanie every day
Melanie experienced abuse and neglect early in life, leading to her removal from her mother’s care and placement into DHS and foster care beginning at just eight years old...

Angles in the Outfield is a dedicated Partner of ours, committed to stepping in when children and young adults need support, stability, and hope the most. Through their generosity, they help fund restorative programs that give survivors the chance to heal, grow, and reclaim a sense of safety and confidence.
One of those individuals is Melanie.
Melanie experienced abuse and neglect early in life, leading to her removal from her mother’s care and placement into DHS and foster care beginning at just eight years old. Her childhood was marked by instability and trauma, including an incident in which she was kidnapped by her father for several days and later evaluated for sexual abuse. Both of her parents have experienced incarceration tied to events during her childhood.
With the support of Angels in the Outfield, Melanie was given the opportunity to participate in equine therapy at Big Star Ranch. This unique therapeutic environment provides programs specifically designed to support healing and skill-building for young adults who have endured significant trauma.
Through this experience, Melanie was able to engage in a calm, structured setting that fosters trust, emotional regulation, and personal growth, which are critical steps on a long but meaningful healing journey.
This is the impact of showing up. And it’s only possible because of partners like Angels in the Outfield who believe survivors deserve more than just survival. They deserve hope.
