Financial Support

We focus on three forms of financial assistance. Honor Grants, Hope Grants, and Rapid Response Grants.

Inner Banner

Restoring hope. Rebuilding lives. Honoring victims.

At the MrBallen Foundation, our mission is lived out through education, training, and financial support. One of the most important ways we do this is by providing grants and direct assistance to victims of violent crime – and to the organizations walking alongside them.

Whether it’s immediate relief after a tragedy or ongoing support for families as they rebuild, every gift from our Honor Them Society monthly donors goes straight to those who need it most. Through your generosity, we can respond quickly and compassionately in moments when help matters most.

Honor Grants

Supporting organizations that serve victims and families.

Our Honor Grant program provides financial support to 501(c)(3) nonprofits that offer services to victims and families impacted by heinous crimes. Awarded quarterly, these grants help organizations continue vital work in some of the hardest moments families will ever face.

  • Grants up to $25,000, with occasional consideration for larger requests

  • Open year-round to eligible organizations

  • Funding can support a wide range of programs and projects

  • Organizations must provide proof of 501(c)(3) status and submit a complete application, project proposal, and budget

Grant Guidelines

  • Applicants must be a 501(c)(3) organization or referred through a partner organization

  • All applications require a complete project proposal, budget, and proof of nonprofit status (IRS letter and Form 990-EZ or full Form 990; Form 990-N not accepted)

  • Grants must align with the MrBallen Foundation mission of supporting victims and families affected by heinous crimes, including homicide, rape, genocide, trafficking, violent crimes against children, arson, or robbery resulting in death

We proudly welcome all eligible applicants and do not discriminate based on race, religion, color, creed, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or ability. Questions? Reach out to us at: grants@mrballen.foundation.

Hope Grants

Direct support for individuals and families.

The Hope Grant program offers one-time, expedited financial assistance to individuals and families impacted by a heinous or violent crime within the last 12–18 months. Hope Grants are designed to meet urgent and emergency needs, helping victims begin to rebuild their lives after unimaginable loss.

  • Available for victims of crimes such as homicide, rape, trafficking, and violent crimes against children

  • Applications accepted by referral through our partner organizations and victim advocacy professionals

  • Grants provide practical, immediate financial relief in the wake of tragedy

Please note: Hope Grant requests are made through our partner organizations. Unfortunately, requests from individuals cannot be accepted.

Rapid Response Grants

Emergency funding after mass tragedies.

In the wake of tragic mass events, such as shooting, speed matters. Our Rapid Response Grants provide expedited funding to victims and their families when time is of the essence. These grants ensure that families aren’t left waiting for critical support when they need it most.

  • Awarded swiftly after mass casualty events

  • Funds go directly to affected individuals and families

  • Designed to provide urgent, compassionate support in crisis situations
